I was so pleased when I was asked to write an article on the basics of factoring.  Since my background is in sales and marketing, I was unfamiliar with this industry until I became a part of it 25 years ago. Since then I have made it my mission to educate both companies and their advisors on the benefits of this form of financing which does not dilute equity and provides immediate cash flow.

I was so pleased when my colleague, Jonathan Bragdon made a warm introduction to his friend and colleague, Aunnie Patton.

Aunnie is an author, professor, consultant, and lecturer.

She was working on a project  funded by the US Economic Development Administration and in partnership with Blueprint Local and the Nowak Metro Finance Lab. It builds on her work on alternative financing options for SMEs (including her book: Adventure.Finance). More on the project here: Innovative.Finance. One of the outputs is a playbook: Innovative Financing Models for COVID recovery.

As part of this playbook, she asked me to contribute to  a chapter on Supply Chain Financing. I was honored to contribute to the playbook to give businesses a better understanding of the landscape of alternative financing options.

At this time of year, as we reflect on all that we are thankful for, I extend my thanks to the community that I have been part of for over 25 years.

This year I am extremely grateful to be back in person. There is nothing like seeing friends and colleagues face- to -face, catching up, sharing ideas and strategies, to remind me just how much we truly missed during these past few years.

Recently I was fortunate to attend two industry conferences. TMA Annual in Boston and SFNET in Austin. It was great to travel, to be energized by seeing all my colleagues and hearing industry news and trends. We had fun cocktail parties and dinners with friends, and time to explore these wonderful cities. This year I was joined by our newest member of the sales team, Umberto DiStefano, who is our Mid-Atlantic Sales Director. Conferences are fun when shared with a new enthusiastic member of the team. He was so energized by the warm welcome he received from members of our industry.

As always, I am grateful for the amazing team at Prestige Capital, who make my job easy, by using their combined 37 plus years of experience to run our firm with integrity and ease for our clients.

I am especially thankful for our clients who have put their trust in us as they navigate the uncharted, and at times unpredictable, waters of growing a business.

You all make me look forward to each and every day, and for that, I am extremely grateful.

“ I was honored when the Secured Lender Magazine the publication of The Secured Finance Network asked me to pen an article on Factoring basics aka Factoring 101- for their October issue which would be distributed on college campuses. Factoring and Asset Based Lending   is not often taught in business school and which many current industry  members, myself included, have fallen into, often by accident. With intentionality we are trying to change that narrative by promoting our industry on college campuses. This issue also included a section called Great Places to Work – which is a question and answer section about the benefits of working at various firms, Prestige is included on page 76. I hope that it brings fresh new talent to our industry and improves diversity in our industry as well.”

The summer is a time when we can finally kick back and relax after all the hard work that we did all year. This year we decided to have some fun on social media and run a Prestige Summer in Action Vacation Photo Contest. We got some great photos submitted. Check them out! It was wonderful to finally get back out and go to our annual IFA conference! This one was held at the Boston Sheraton Hotel. Reuniting with industry friends was great! I have been enjoying taking photos with my colleagues and posting them on linked in and was inundated with requests from friends to be in photos and be tagged on social media. I even made a tongue in cheek remark on linked in that I was the new photographer for the IFA and received many notes of Congratulations from people who thought that I switched careers! I DO enjoy photography, but I LOVE helping companies grow and succeed! While in Boston, I had the chance to see many of my banking partners as well, where we got a chance to catch up and meet some of the new bankers that had joined their time, many of them working remotely during COVID and now being lured back to the office with perks. There is nothing like connecting in person and I was completely energized!
